Thanks for your valuable feedback. It really helps that you are active and that you’re telling us more about how you see Squirrly SEO.
You had a Lifetime License purchased before we launched Squirrly SEO 2017. So maybe it was for Squirrly SEO 2015, or maybe for Squirrly SEO 2016. During the time we launched SQ SEO 2017, we’ve sold zero lifetime licenses. And after that event we’ve sold zero lifetime licenses.
The lifetime deal plan was ALWAYS called: Old Squirrly. It was never called PRO because it was a completely different product, which agencies loved more than they loved our PRO. Agencies and freelancers alike.
The deal for the lifetime license was actually for the plan called Old Squirrly, which acted like a PRO plan in many aspects. However, in some cases it was a lot better than a PRO plan. Remember: unlimited WordPress Sites. The PRO plan only gives 7 websites.
Old Squirrly Better than PRO
Old Squirrly plan gave access to everything in Squirrly SEO 2016:
– for an unlimited number of WordPress sites
– unlimited pages to optimize with SEO Live Assistant
– 2000 or 3000 total keyword researches (this alone is huge). Given one time.
– it gave access to all features up until Squirrly SEO 2016. And would give NO updates after that. This was the main idea. However, we came to offer you more than what you paid for, because your feedback and your support has always been great!
– you received updates (for free, completely as gifts from us) which you shouldn’t have had access to (more about this below)
It was the reason why many people chose it over buying monthly subscriptions.
The products had to be different, because we have huge monthly costs associated with the usage of the product. SO: not with R&D (research and development), not with the support team, not with the rest of the team, etc. The product usage itself costs money. Monthly.
Old Squirrly was the only lifetime deal we could make.
And we did say over and over again that you would never get new updates! Everything was supposed to stop with Squirrly SEO 2016.
If you look at all other software providers in the world, you will see that they are very strict about their versions. And remember that Squirrly SEO is mostly powered by the Cloud Services, so this is not just a zip file.
However, we went ahead and offered you (at no extra cost, even though we should have charged you for them) many new features. There’s no other company I know of which does this. Not Sendgrid, not MailChimp, Not Microsoft, Not Instapage, nobody. And let’s not even begin to discuss SEO Spyglass who offered a Lifetime Deal and 6 months later blocked my access to the tool saying I need to pay a $40 USD / month license to continue using my lifetime deal.
That’s absurd!
Squirrly has not done anything remotely similar. To this very day, you can continue using the same Old Squirrly plan with the lifetime deal and we keep serving you with our Cloud Services.
Better yet: we even upgraded the feature set that you paid for and we’ve added many new things at no extra cost.
To this very day, the Lifetime Plan that we sold back then is still a better choice in most cases for most small agencies and freelancers. We don’t sell it anymore, but you can still use it… you can use it way better than you did before, because of the updates.
You received access to all updates from Briefcase (from Squirrly SEO 2018: Briefcase). You received updates from Squirrly SEO 2017, from Squirrly SEO 2018 and even from Squirrly SEO 2018: Steve.
These were all gifts we’ve given you for sticking with us over the years.
I’ve written this email because some of you have seen that you can’t add Focus Pages in Squirrly SEO 2019.
That is intentional. We can’t give Focus Pages to the Old Squirrly plan, and we were never meant to do that, as per the plan you purchased.
Even though over time we gave you access to new features and new updates, Focus Pages is not something that we can give to the Old Squirrly plan.
You’ve received new interfaces, new tools, new updates, SEO Automation, Bulk SEO Settings, SEO Live Assistant updates, Settings Assistant updates, Ranking Section Updates (you had a limit on the number of pages there, but we removed it for you, btw), Keyword Research Updates, Briefcase feature, Research History feature, the new my.squirrly.co, etc.
Oh, yes, we even gave the Briefcase integration with SEO Live Assistant for free to you, because you owned an Old Squirrly Plan. This allows you to optimize a page for multiple keywords.
Considering the huge amount of updates, all other companies would have charged you hundreds of dollars for the access. We gave them to you for free, even though we had no obligation to do so.
And you can keep using them with your subscription.
However, if you want Focus Pages (which unleash ultimate SEO Performance) then you will need to get a monthly PRO subscription. The amount of data that’s being processed for all the ranking factors that Focus Pages look for is astounding.
